With raw material costs spiralling and fluctuations in exchange rates, the price of goods has been hit hard recently and the cycle trade is no exception. “We saw prices go up towards the end of 2008 and this year we’re expecting manufacturers to increase prices further” says Joel Natale, chief bike buyer. “We’re shielding customers from these rises as much as possible, but price increases will undoubtedly filter through to ticket prices later this year. If I were looking to invest in a new bike I would do so now, while the sale is on and before any price hikes in 2010 models – prices will never be this low again.”
